Absztrakt
1873-ban egyesült Pest, Buda és Óbuda, Budapestben, létrehozva Magyarország fővárosát. Az Andrássy család meghatározó szerepet játszott Budapest 19. századi modernizációjában és arculatának kialakításában. A Fővárosi Közmunkák Tanácsa létrehozása Andrássy Gyula kezdeményezésének köszönhető, aki a londoni Metropolitan Boards of Works mintájára alkotott meg, egy olyan testületet, amit az egyesült fővárosban a folyó építkezések koordinátorává vált. A közmunkatanács elnökeként és miniszterelnökként is Idősebb gróf Andrássy Gyula, maga aktív szerepet vállalt Budapest fő- és világvárossá válásának megteremtésében. A fővárosi arisztokrácia társasági életének központjaként az Andrássyak és az Andrássy-paloták (például a budai Duna-parton) a korszak fényűző életmódját
reprezentálták. A politika és a kulturális terek mindvégig jelen van történetében. A jelen tanulmány a gróf Andrássy család budai palotájának születését, építés-, kultúr- és
politikatörténetét kívánja bemutatni, a történeti forrásokon keresztül.

Abstract
In 1873, the towns Pest, Buda, and Óbuda merged to form Budapest as the capital of Hungary. The Andrássy family played a decisive role in the modernization of Budapest and in shaping its image in the 19th century. The establishment of the Capital City Public Works Council was the initiative of Count Gyula Andrássy, who, following the example of the Metropolitan Boards of Works in London, created a body that became the coordinator of ongoing construction projects in the united capital. As president of the Public Works Council and prime minister, Count Gyula Andrássy Sr. himself played an active role in transforming Budapest into a busy metropolis and an internationally famous capital. As the centre of social life for the capital's aristocracy, the Andrássy family and the Andrássy palaces (such as the one on the Buda side of the Danube banks) represented the luxurious lifestyle of the era. Politics and cultural spaces have always been present in its history. This study aims to present the birth and construction of the Buda palace of the Count Andrássy dynasty through historical sources, highlighting its cultural and political history.
